The Church isn't just an interim thing while we wait for God to get back to His real program for Israel. It was Moses' Law that was the interim thing - it's the Gospel and the Church that are God's originally promised program.
The nations trekking up to Jerusalem to observe the Feast of Tabernacles is not God's ultimate program for the future. God's ultimate program for the future was that God Himself shall tabernacle with His people. The Feast of Tabernacles was a symbol of things that were to come. John saw that when the time came for the symbol to be fulfilled, the fulfilment didn't involve carrying out the symbol, but rather experiencing the real thing. God dwelling with His people, not in physical Jerusalem, but in the new, heavenly Jerusalem - the bride of the Lamb. God isn't into taking us back to shadows after the substance is already come.
